While many training programs use host families for their dogs, ours is one of the few that involve puppy raisers in both the early and advanced phases of the dog’s training. Our puppy raisers are also invited to our graduation events, where they take part in the often-emotional “passing of the leash” ceremony. When puppy raisers need some time off, our “puppy sitters” take over. Both puppy raisers and puppy sitters may have children and other pets in their homes. They also take the dogs out with them to public places and allow them to become familiar with everyday situations they will encounter after graduation.
Other volunteers assist in the daily life of the program, helping to groom and care for dogs, taking care of office work, fundraising, and more. If you are interested in becoming a Kids and Canines volunteer or puppy raiser, please contact us for more information.
Our volunteers are an integral part of our program. We could not succeed without them!
